Welcome to the official website for The Charltons Parish Council
The Charltons is an ancient parish which comprises the villages of Charlton Adam and Charlton Mackrell and the smaller settlements of West Charlton, Lytes Cary, Cary Fitzpaine and Wellham - read more about its history. Today it is a thriving community with a post office/shop, pub, primary school, community hall with playing fields and children’s play area and a smaller 'village hall', The Reading Room. Lytes Cary Manor, owned by the National Trust, and the Hallr Wood charity are in the parish and there are two churches, St Mary the Virgin in Charlton Mackrell and SS Peter and Paul in Charlton Adam. There are many clubs and groups, including art, horticulture, dog training, badminton, a youth club, tennis, pilates, the cider club as well as agricultural and other local businesses.

Next Parish Council Meeting - 27th 2022
The Parish Council meets at the Reading Room, Charlton Mackrell on the third Tuesday of every month at 7.30pm.
All Council Meetings are open to Members of the Public and Press (Public Bodies [Admission to Meetings] Act 1960).

Local councils can only be as effective, relevant and vibrant as the people elected to run it, so we need councillors who are capable, energetic and engaged – from all backgrounds and experiences to reflect their communities. Being a councillor is highly rewarding. No other role gives you a chance to make such a huge difference to the quality of life of people in your local area and to influence the way issues are dealt with locally.
