Removal of brown information signs in the parish

A number of brown information signs have been placed on the side of roads in the parish.  All roadside signs which are not of a temporary nature, for example advertising ‘one-off’ events like fetes and jumble sales, must be authorised by Somerset Council in advance and conform to the national highway sign standards. Planning Application 23/02768/OUT

This is an outline application for the erection of three dwellings with all matters reserved except access and layout in George Street, Charlton Adam. Basically, this is an application to find out whether permission WOULD be granted to build these houses. Full details of the application can be found on the Somerset Council website.
This has not been classed as a major planning application as it is for less than ten houses, so the decision whether to grant or refuse the application lies solely with a planning officer.
The Parish Council objected to the application, along with 24 members of the public. The planning officer will have considered the content of these objections, but will not have contacted any of the people who submitted comments before arriving at a decision.
The planning officer approved the outline application, stating these reasons for approval.
The proposed residential development of the site is considered to be acceptable in this location, will contribute to housing provision and could be carried out, subject to detail, with respect to the character of the area, and without causing demonstrable harm to landscape character, visual amenity, residential amenity, ecology or highway safety, in accordance with policies SD1, SS1, SS2, SS4, EQ1, EQ2, EQ3, EQ4, EQ5, TA1, TA5 and TA6 of the South Somerset Local Plan (2006-2028) and the core planning principles of the National Planning Policy Framework.
The applicant will now submit a detailed planning application which will be subject to consultation and approval. The Parish Council and members of the public will be able to comment on the detail of the application when submitted, but not to object to the development taking place.
