Improving Health & Wellbeing in Your Community

October 11, 2018

Good afternoon,

We have organised an inspiring event to showcase how people in Somerset communities are working together to improve local health and wellbeing. Would you please share this with your Councillors? It would be great to see a representative from each Parish/Town Council in Somerset at the event.

Cllr Tim Rice from Street Parish Council will be opening the event for us. Tim has had a lot of involvement with Street Parish Council's health and wellbeing agenda - including setting up Street Park Run, which started a few months ago. Street Parish Council also supported the setup of Street Men's Shed.

There will be presentations and Q&As with:

  • John Pimblott from Cheddar Community Partnership, on how they are supporting the mental health of local young people through 'The Space' project.

  • Matt Day from Spark, on how we are facilitating collaborative action through our work with three community partnerships - tackling loneliness, rural transport and young people's mental health issues.

  • Christopher Hyldon from Transport Around Baltonsborough, on how to develop a successful community car scheme.

  • Linda Bickerton, Practice Manager at Queen Camel Medical Centre, on their new befriending scheme.

The event is taking place at 7:15pm on Tuesday 16th October, at the Edgar Community Hall in Somerton. It’s open to town and parish councillors, community groups, and anybody with an interest in improving health & wellbeing in their community.

Come along for the opportunity to meet with like-minded people over refreshments and healthy nibbles. £10 charge to cover costs. Places limited.

I do hope you can join us.
